Are Dogs Better than Cats??

Now my memory of 'How it all started' is slightly different. We have two cats, Bobcat and Pumpkin, and at the time, we were definitely a cat family. So when Holly was asked to write an exposition on 'Are Dogs better than Cats?' then we chose cats. I say we, because homework is a joint effort in our house. Incidentally, I had to ask Holly what an exposition was before I knew what we were doing. Homework is far more complicated than in my day.

Cats are better than dogs because:
1. You don't have to take them for walks
2. You don't have to pick up their poo (they bury it in next door's garden)
3. They look after themselves
4. They are soft and cuddly

And Dogs are not as good as cats because:
1. They lick you
2. You have to take them for a walk every day
3. You have to pick up their poo
4. They are a big responsibility
5. They chew everything
6. They bark a lot and disturb the neighbours

And there it was. Cats are better than Dogs. My daughter was in the minority at school, but she stuck to her guns and got good marks for a well presented argument.

But some of those other expositions must have been very persuasive, and this combined with a best friend who recently got a dog, led to an immediate change of heart on Holly's part and a long slow conversion for me.
